Hello wonderful readers!
I haven't posted on here in a few months but I am making a comeback that I hope will make up for it!
In case you couldn't tell by the title, I am going to tell you all about my trip to Palestine that is happening from now until the next two months! It's definitely an exciting time and there's so much I think people should learn about it! I probably won't be able to blog everyday or either every other day, but I will definitely do my best. So let's start the journey....
Yesterday our plane took off and let me tell you that it definitely did not hit me that I was going back even after I was off the ground! But the city lights were beautiful and the last sight of America that I saw before heading out was a good contrast to what I would see when I'd land.

In order to get to Palestine, we need to stop in Jordan first (the country right next to Pali) so we can then cross the borders by bus. This is another tragic result of the occupation. In order to get to Jordan, we fly over Palestine, and it was gorgeous to look at from the sky, knowing that after a few years I was finally so close to being home. Since the shore of Palestine along the Mediterranean is considered Israel, as a Palestinian I am not allowed to go there. This was the closest to the beach that I could get...

After the long plane ride (12 hours) during which I watched 3 of my favorite Oscar-winning movies, we arrived in Jordan and were greeted by my cousins. It was a great reunion and along the whole car ride I had to contain myself from squealing in excitement over the endless fields of olive trees that I had written so many poems about and the man who drove past us with 4 camels in the back of his pick-up. Even all the people selling different fruits along the side of the road made me feel happy inside although I distinctly remember hating when my dad stopped to pick some things up from them. Somehow the things that hadn't mattered that much now did when I knew how much I missed them when I was away. Such as my first cup of mint tea I drank outside while the sun was setting and the weather was absolutely GORGEOUS. No humidity...no bugs....no rain. Just the sunset, light breeze, and some tea and great conversations.....
Right now, I'm in the house that I spent countless summer nights in playing with my cousins outside and watching old Disney movies inside. I am where my cousin made Strawberry Nesquick our favorite summer treat when my cousins and I were younger. I am where we'd walk down for ice cream to the sound of beeping cars and lights everywhere. I am where falafel and humus sandwiches became the best lunch ever.
Most of all, I am in the place that made me feel the most alive I've felt since moving to the states.
The greatest part of the whole day was the moment I walked outside of my uncle's house and heard the Adhan out loud for the first time in 3 years. I can't wait for the next two months of this amazing journey!
Until next time...
